Introduction to Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
A broad introduction to acupuncture and oriental medicine theory are designed to provide the student with an overall understanding of the history, philosophy and conceptual framework of Oriental Medicine.
Emphasis is given to the principles and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), diagnosis and effective treatment strategies and comparisons to western medicine concepts are discussed. Yin / Yang theory, Qi- the vital energy, Five Elements, Horary Cycle, Physiologically active acupuncture points- Command and Transportation points, influential points, and needling methods and acupuncture measurements are discussed and demonstrated.
